Non Combatant roles include Front of House Staff, the Commentary Team, the Sealed Knot Medical Service, Living History Group, Musicians and Camp Followers.
Living History Group
The society has a living history group which aims to recreate day to day life in the 17th Century. They create their own soldiers camp which is present at all major musters and the majority of smaller events, and is open to the public.
Commentary Team
The commentary team aims to give the audience an overall picture of what is going on during the battle, as well as providing information about regiments, front of house players, and the different arms of service.
Front of House Players
The front of house players research and portray specific characters - some on the battlefield, some on the crowd line, some in the living history camp. Some of the current roles including ‘ranters’, priests surgeons, gentry, wives of soldiers, and ‘ladies of the night’!
Children
As a family regiment, we have quite a few ready-made friends for children joining the regiment, and there are various ways that they can be involved. They can get involved in marches, pre-battle displays, cameos, or join the apprentices.
The apprentices at arms is for young people throughout the whole society aged 12 to 16 years and is run by the Master of apprentices, who is one of our members and who rose through the ranks herself. Young people are trained to use the arms of service, and sword fighting as well as learning about safety aspects, history and the importance of the non-combattant roles as well. Young people may join the fighting ranks at the age of 16.
